  • Wizards of the Coast
    Mana symbols in the text boxes of permanents you control don't count toward your devotion to any color.
  • Wizards of the Coast
    To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions (such as that of Daybreak Chimera). The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.

    If you put an Aura on an opponent's permanent, you still control the Aura, and mana symbols in its mana cost count towards your devotion.

    Colorless and generic mana symbols (C, 0, 1, 2, X, and so on) in mana costs of permanents you control don't count toward your devotion to any color.
