Rules for this card

  • A keyword action that exiles one or more permanents and/or spells. The owner of each card exiled with airbend may cast it from exile by paying 2 rather than paying its mana cost. See rule 701.65, “Airbend.”

  • A keyword ability that restricts how a creature may be blocked. See rule 702.9, “Flying.”

  • To turn a double-faced card so its other face is up. See rule 701.27, “Transform.”

Rulings (7)

  • Wizards of the Coast
You must choose a target opponent for The Legend of Yangchen's second chapter ability when it is put on the stack. You will not choose whether or not that opponent will draw cards until the ability resolves.
  • Wizards of the Coast
Permanents chosen by players using The Legend of Yangchen's first ability will be exiled simultaneously once all players have chosen permanents.
  • Wizards of the Coast
Each face of a nonmodal double-faced card has its own set of characteristics: name, types, subtypes, abilities, and so on. While a nonmodal double-faced permanent is on the battlefield, consider only the characteristics of the face that's currently up. The other set of characteristics is ignored.
  • Wizards of the Coast
If you are instructed to put a card that isn't a double-faced card onto the battlefield transformed, it will not enter the battlefield at all. In that case, it stays in the zone it was previously in. For example, if a single-faced card is a copy of The Legend of Yangchen, the chapter III ability will cause it to be exiled and then remain in exile.
  • Wizards of the Coast
Each nonmodal double-faced card in this set is cast face up. In every zone other than the battlefield, consider only the characteristics of its front face. If it is on the battlefield, consider only the characteristics of the face that's up; the other face's characteristics are ignored.
  • Wizards of the Coast
The mana value of a nonmodal double-faced card is the mana value of its front face, no matter which face is up.
  • Wizards of the Coast
A nonmodal double-faced card enters with its front face up by default, unless a spell or ability instructs you to put it onto the battlefield transformed or you cast it transformed, in which case it enters with its back face up.
