Oracle Text
Each creature you control with a counter on it has ward. (Whenever it becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays .)
: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature that entered this turn.

-
Wizards of the CoastThe effect of Cathedral Acolyte’s first ability applies to any creature you control with a counter on it, not just ones with +1/+1 counters.
-
Wizards of the CoastOnce a creature’s ward ability has triggered, causing that creature to lose ward by removing Cathedral Acolyte won’t affect the ability. The appropriate player will still have to pay or see their spell or ability countered.
