Wizards of the CoastUnlike some other dual lands, Festering Thicket has two basic land types. It’s not basic, so effects that search for basic lands (such as the ability of a Lander token) can’t find it, but it does have the appropriate land types for effects such as that of Wastewood Verge (from the Aetherdrift release).
