Resolved Effects Survive Ability Loss
Judge Level 2Humility strips Sower of Temptation's ability — the stolen creature stays stolen anyway.
Cards involved
The theft
Your Sower of Temptation took your opponent's Grizzly Bears as it entered: "… you gain control of it for as long as Sower of Temptation remains on the battlefield."
Your opponent casts Humility
All creatures lose all abilities and are 1/1 — your Sower too. The plan: no ability, no control theft.
What happens?
Does your opponent get the Bears back?
The Sower is now an ability-less 1/1. And the control effect?
Pick an answer to continue.
Continuous effects from resolved spells and abilities (611.2) run for their stated duration — here "as long as Sower remains on the battlefield". Removing abilities only affects STATIC effects that are continuously generated by an existing ability.
611.2A continuous effect may be generated by the resolution of a spell or ability.
The only way out
Only when the (now tiny 1/1) Sower dies or otherwise leaves the battlefield does the effect end — then the Bears go back. Rule of thumb: "Snakeform, Mirrorweave, Humility — doesn't matter. Only the zone change counts."
611.2A continuous effect may be generated by the resolution of a spell or ability.
